”Pic hits a textural/tonal ground somewhere between “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Blue Velvet,” much assisted by Damian Ward’s grainy, evocative Super 16 lensing.” -Dennis Harvey, Variety magazine
From an early age, Damian found refuge in literature, music and photography. While attending the High School of Art and Design, he gravitated towards the visual arts; immediately on gaining acceptance to the The School of Visual Arts, he began his work as a director of photography on a wide spectrum of projects.
To this day, every job he takes is informed by an ever-loving interest in the visual language of film, never missing an opportunity to explore the subject deeper. Over the course of 15 years, Damian honed his craft as a gaffer and lighting technician, gaining experience which would influence and evolve his aesthetic decisions and sensibility as a cinematographer.
His work has been awarded, featured and selected by such publications and institutions as Variety magazine, IndieWire, Sundance and IFP. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
